השבוע יצאו המדריך במרכז יריב מלמד יחד עם אלי יבלונק וכלבו גלן לנסיעה לחיזוק הקשרים עם הקהילה בטורונטו. זוהי הפעם הראשונה בו מדריך מלווה בוגר המרכז במסע מסוג זה, ויהיה ליריב הרבה מה לתרום במפגשים. במהלך הביקור יריב ואלי ייפגשו עם תלמידי בתי ספר, מפגשים בבתי חברי הקהילה היהודית, וישתתפו באירוע ג'אז וערב בבית הכנסת "הבונים" של הרב אלי רובנשטיין. אנו מאחלים להם הצלחה במסע! בתמונה רואים את מייק לבנתאל, יו"ר ארגון הידידים שלנו בארה"ב שמבקר בארץ בימים אלו ואת נח יחד עם אלי ויריב. אנו מהחלים הצלחה גם ל-5 הצמדים החדשים שסיימו קורס השבוע וחזרו הבייתה להתחיל חיים חדשים.

This week Yariv Melamed, a senior instructor at the Center, and Eli Yablonek and his guide dog Glen set out for Toronto. Their trip will include visits to schools, parlor meetings, a jazz event, and an evening at "Habonim" - the congregation of Rabbi Eli Rubenstein. This is the first time that an instructor from the Center has accompanied a graduate on a fundraising – friendraising tour. The photo shows Yariv, Eli, Mike Leventhal who is presently visiting Israel, and Noach bfore the two depart for Toronto. This week five new guide dog partnerships completed a course at the center and returned home to begin their new lives together. We wish everyone much success!

Our Two Delegations This Week שתי המשתחות שלנו השבוע

השבוע יצאו שתי משלחות חשובות מהמרכז. הראשונה היא המשלחת לפולין המלווה במדריך אמיר הסכל ומרטין סיגל, יו"ר ארגון הידידים שלנו באנגליה. המשלחת, שהיא הרביעית מסוגה, מורכבת משישה נעזרים בכלבי נחייה ומלווים. המשלחת מיועדת לתת לאנשים עם עיוורון הזדמנות לבקר באתרים היסטוריים וללמוד על תקופה קשה זאת בהיסטוריה של העם היהודי. בינתיים בארץ יוצאת קבוצה של שש זוגות רוכבים של "כן ולא" למסע ממטולה ועד אילת. הקבוצה תרכוב כ-500 קילומטרים לכל אורכה של הארץ במטרה להגביר מודעות וכמובן – לעמוד באתגר הספורטיבי של רכיבה בת 4 ימים. הרכיבה היא הראשונה ממספר אירועים שיציינו את חגיגת יום ההולדת העשור של "כן ולא". השבוע חמישה חניכים מתחילים קורס לקבלת כלבי נחייה בהדרכת רועי והילה ויעל. אנו מאחלים הצלחה לכולם! צילומים: המשלחת לפולין ורוכבי "כן ולא" במסע

Two different delegations have set out on missions this week from the Center: The first is the annual mission to Poland. The mission, which is the fourth such trip sponsored by the Center, consists of six guide dog users accompanied by escorts and their guide dogs, and is led by Amir Hiskel, an experienced guide who specializes in the history of the Holocaust. Martin Segal, Director of the British Friends of the IGDCB, joined the group from London for the duration of the week. The objective of the mission is to enable clients from the center to visit historic sites in Poland and to learn about this tragic period in the history of the Jewish People. Another delegation set out from the nortnern town of Metulla this week headed for the southern tip of the country on tandem bicycles. The group of six tandem teams has embarked on a four-day ride along the entire length of the country to raise awareness and to meet the challenge of the 500-kilometer ride. The event is the first of several events that will mark the 10th anniversary of the formation of Canvelo. Meanwhile this week at the center five new clients are beginning an instruction course with Roee, Hilla, and Yael. We wish everyone much success in their new partnerships!
